IPL 2025 mega auction: RCB sign Krunal Pandya for 5.75 crores
Krunal Pandya scored 133 runs and picked up six wickets in IPL 2024 for LSG.
Like his brother Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya is also a quality T20 all-rounder, though his India career didn’t shoot up like his brother’s. One major difference between them is that while Hardik is a right-arm seamer, Krunal is a left-arm finger spinner.
Because Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have performed consistently for the past many years, opportunities in the national side have been few and far between for Krunal.
He played 19 T20Is and five ODIs for India between 2018 and 2021. Krunal bowls with control and is a reliable middle-order batsman.
He has scored 130 runs in four ODI innings, while remaining not out twice, with one half-century, and scored 124 runs in 10 T20I knocks. With the ball, the Baroda all-rounder has taken 17 international wickets.
Krunal Pandya sold to RCB for INR 5.75 crore
RCB roped in Krunal Pandya for INR 5.75 crore in the mega auction after staving off competition from Rajasthan Royals.
Krunal Pandya previously in the IPL
Krunal Pandya made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2016 for Mumbai Indians, a season after his brother Hardik debuted for the same franchise.
Krunal was with MI from 2016 to 2021 and helped them win three titles. His most memorable game in the IPL remains the 2017 final against Rising Pune Supergiant, in which he played a match-winning knock of 47 runs in a low-scoring encounter that MI won. Krunal bagged the Man of the Match award in that final.
After being released by MI, Krunal was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 8.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction and remained there until the IPL 2024 season.
Overall, in his 127-match IPL career, Krunal Pandya has scored 1647 runs and taken 76 wickets at an economy of 7.36.
