Batsmen with fastest to 100 sixes in Test cricket ft. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant leads the list of fastest to hit 100 sixes in Tests.
The oldest among all formats of international cricket, Test cricket is often traditionally associated with patience, defence and orthodox batting.
However, several players have modernised the approach towards Test cricket. In recent times, this format has become more dynamic with the introduction of some remarkable styles.
While Brendon McCullum is often credited as the architect of the approach, Rishabh Pant is one of the players who has mastered the art of defying stereotypes. On that note, let’s take a look at the top four batsmen who hit the fastest 100 sixes in the longest format.
Fastest to 100 Sixes in Test Cricket
Brendon McCullum – 170 innings
Brendon McCullum had introduced the aggressive approach to Test cricket long before he was appointed the head coach of England. A key aspect of McCullum’s Test career was that he emerged as an extremely aggressive yet successful Test cricketer.
Even the New Zealand great needed 170 innings to reach the milestone figure of 100 sixes in Test cricket. He faced 9756 balls, making him the fourth-fastest to the milestone.
Ben Stokes – 151 innings

When it comes to sixes, one cannot miss the iconic name of former England captain Ben Stokes, who transformed the expectations around Test batting in England. He was one of the most prolific six-hitters during England’s bazball era.
Stokes achieved this feat during his 151st Test innings, moving into third place behind Rishabh Pant and Adam Gilchrist. He had faced 9042 deliveries to beat his then-coach Brendon McCullum to the record figure.
Adam Gilchrist – 130 innings
Though not traditionally part of the modern era of Test cricket, Gilchrist was the one to demonstrate aggression in Test cricket during a time when the game was not played with a contemporary approach.
The former Australian reached the feat of 100 sixes in just 130 innings, a record that stood unbeaten for over two decades before Rishabh Pant surpassed him.
Rishabh Pant – 89 innings

Rishabh Pant‘s record feat of surpassing Adam Gilchrist’s pace truly reflects his extraordinary six-hitting prowess.
Known for his out-of-the-box strokeplay and distinctive spirit of taking the attack to every bowler, Rishabh is often considered one of the most unconventional batters in Test cricket history.
Reaching the record feat in just 89 innings and taking 4918 balls, Pant reached the great milestone of 100 Test sixes in almost 1650 fewer balls than his predecessor, Adam Gilchrist, who had taken 6578 balls to reach the milestone.
How many sixes did Rishabh Pant hit in Test Cricket so far?
Rishabh Pant went on to hit three sixes across the two innings against Sri Lanka in the First Test at Galle.
