Getting the chance to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) remains a dream for many cricketers. Even when a player gets the chance to make his debut in the league, he plays under the pressure of performing well in his debut game.

However, at times, some players have shown no signs of stress and have shown the courage to go for a maximum in the first delivery that they face. Thus, on the same note, let’s take a look at the list of batsmen who have hit a six on the first ball of their IPL career.

Batsmen to hit six on the first ball of their IPL career

1. Rob Quiney (RR): 2009

The first player to hit a six on the first ball of their IPL career was former Australian batter Rob Quiney. He made his IPL debut in the 2009 season for the inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals (RR). Quiney scored the maximum against the Kolkata Knight Riders; however, he lost his wicket soon, scoring 6 runs off 2 deliveries.

2. Kevon Cooper (RR): 2012

Kevon Cooper, the second player to score a six off their first ball in the IPL, made his debut for the Rajasthan Royals, against the Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, unlike Rob Quiney, Kevon Cooper came to bat at the sixth spot, playing as a finisher. He scored 11 runs off 3 deliveries and helped the Royals push the scoreline to 191. RR won the match by 31 runs against Punjab.

3. Andre Russell (DC): 2012

Making his debut for the Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils), Andre Russell started his IPL journey with a six. He made his debut against the Deccan Chargers; however, he didn’t get a chance to bat. Thus, while facing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the next game, he joined the exclusive list.

4. Carlos Brathwaite (DC): 2016

Four years after Andre Russell commenced his career in the IPL with a maximum, Carlos Brathwaite became the second West Indian batter to hit a six on the very first ball he faced in his IPL career. Brathwaite reached the milestone during the 2016 edition for the Delhi Capitals while playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

5. Aniket Choudhary (RCB): 2017

Aniket Choudhary, who debuted for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2017, started off his IPL journey with a six off the first delivery he faced against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

6. Javon Searles (KKR): 2018

Making his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Punjab Kings, Javon Searles smacked a maximum facing his first delivery in the league. The first ball six made his debut in the Indian Premier League memorable.

7. Siddesh Lad (MI): 2019

Making his debut for the Mumbai Indians against the Punjab Kings in IPL 2019, Siddesh Lad scored a six off the first ball he faced on his debut. The delivery was bowled by Ankit Rajpoot, and Lad was eventually bowled by Indian veteran Mohammad Shami.

8. Mahesh Theekshana (CSK): 2022

Sri Lankan spinner Mahesh Theekshana made his batting debut for CSK against RCB and scored a maximum on the first delivery he faced. He scored 7 runs off four balls against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2022.

9. Sameer Rizvi (CSK): 2024

Currently playing under the Delhi Capitals banner, Sameer Rizvi made his debut in the coveted league for the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, in 2024. Bought in the auction as one of the best young players in the Indian talent pool, Rizvi made his debut against the Gujarat Titans (GT) and started his career with a six.

10. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (RR): 2025

The youngest player to hit a six on the first ball of his IPL debut, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is destined for success. He made his IPL debut in 2025 for the Rajasthan Royals against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and hit a six on the very first delivery he faced.

11. Akshat Raghuwanshi (LSG): 2026

Akshat Raghuwanshi is the latest batter to join the list. While the Lucknow Super Giants faced the Mumbai Indians, the 22-year-old hit a six on the first ball of his IPL debut, becoming only the 11th player to do so in the tournament’s history.
