Top 5 batsmen with most sixes in ICC World Test Championship history

England and Indian batsmen have dominated the most sixes chart in ICC World Test Championship history.

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) is a league competition, with the winners decided by a one-off final. The ICC WTC was launched in 2019, with the aim of having one pinnacle tournament for each of the three formats of international cricket.

The tournament, which includes the top nine test teams, runs in a two-year cycle, with each team playing three home and three away series. The top two teams in the league stage meet in the final. New Zealand and Australia won the first two editions of the ICC WTC. Both beat India in the final.

The ICC WTC was introduced with the thought of giving bilateral series, and especially the dead rubber matches in the series, more context and importance.

Since the test matches that are part of the WTC carry important points, teams have mostly prepared bowling-friendly tracks that produce a result. Drawn test matches have significantly reduced in the WTC era. Batters have had to grind harder now but a few of them have shined through with their six-hitting prowess.

On that note, we will look at the top five batters with the most number of sixes in the ICC WTC.

Top 5 batsmen with most sixes in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) history:

5. Daryl Mitchell – 34

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell is fifth on the list of batsmen with most sixes in the ICC World test Championship with 34 sixes to his name. The middle-order batter has been one of the most consistent batters for the Black Caps in the longest format of the game. He has stepped into the shoes of Ross Taylor perfectly. So far, he has mustered 1856 runs in 27 games at an average of 44.19.

4. Yashasvi Jaiswal – 40

Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a bumper start to his test career. He’s amassed over 1800 runs in only 20 tests at an average of 54.25 with five centuries, two of which are double hundreds.

In only 37 innings, Jaiswal has walloped 40 sixes and is fourth in the list of the most sixes in the ICC WTC.

3. Rohit Sharma – 56

India captain Rohit Sharma, who retired from tests in May 2025, turned his test career around since being promoted to open the batting in 2019. Not only did he become one of the finest test openers of his generation, but he also took over the captaincy duties.

In 40 tests in the ICC WTC, Rohit has launched 56 sixes, the second most by an Indian batsman and the third-most in the world.

2. Rishabh Pant – 62

It is no surprise that India’s Rishabh Pant is second on this list. The left-hander is known for his aggressive gameplay and attacking mindset, regardless of the bowler or situation. He has turned the momentum of several test matches with his blistering knocks.

In the ICC WTC so far, Pant has cracked 62 sixes. That is despite being away from test cricket for more than a year due to his car accident in December 2022.

1. Ben Stokes – 83

England test captain Ben Stokes tops the list of the most sixes in the ICC WTC, and he’s ahead of the rest by some distance with 83 sixes to his name in 54 tests.

Stokes has led the Bazball team from the front by displaying an ultra-attacking approach in test cricket. He’s on his way to revolutionize England’s test cricket and make the longest format more entertaining for the fans.
