A total of four batsmen have hit more than 50 sixes in a single IPL season.

T20 cricket demands batters to score runs at a high strike rate and the Indian Premier League (IPL) is no different. Fours and sixes hold a lot more value than singles and doubles in the IPL, as it helps teams accelerate the scoreboard.

In every IPL season, there is a special award for the batsman who hits the most sixes. A few hard-hitting batsmen have shown their might by hitting numerous sixes. Over the years, a few batters have hit more than 50 sixes in a single season. On that note, below are the top five batsmen with the most sixes in an IPL edition.

5. Jos Buttler- 45 (2022)

Representing Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, Jos Buttler hit 45 sixes in 17 games. RR finished as runners-up in the league and Buttler was the leading force behind their batting unit, smacking four centuries and four fifties. The right-handed batter also won the Orange Cap by scoring 863 runs in the tournament.

4. Chris Gayle- 51 (2013)

Chris Gayle, who is considered as one of the most destructive openers to have played in IPL. Playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2013, the left-handed batsman hammered 51 sixes in 16 games. He also hit 57 fours in that season and finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 708 runs.

3. Andre Russell- 52 (2019)

In the 2019 edition, Andre Russell was the most feared batsman. He hit sixes and fours for fun, helping his team win many games with ease. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and hit 52 sixes in 14 games. Batting at a strike rate of over 200 and an average of 56, Russell piled up 510 runs in the season.

2. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi- 53 (2026)*

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is another batsman who is known for his ability to hit sixes. He is part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 and has hit 53 sixes in 13 games. With 579 runs, he is also the leading run-scorer for his team, with one century and three fifties to his name.

1. Chris Gayle- 59 (2012)

In IPL 2012, Gayle scripted the record for most sixes in a single season. The RCB opener slammed 59 sixes and 46 fours in 15 games. Piling up 733 runs with one century and seven half-centuries, Gayle also finished as the highest run-scorer and won the Orange Cap.
