Two Indian batsmen are among top five highest run-scorers in T20I Asia Cup.

Asia Cup tournaments, which are organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) every two years, witness a battle among the cricket giants of the Asian sub-continent. The tournament started back in 1984 and has seen 16 editions so far.

In 2016, the Asia Cup was played in T20 format for the first time. The tournament is either played in a 50-over format or a T20 format, according to the ICC World Cup campaign following the tournament. Over the years, some batsmen have shown consistent form in the T20I Asia Cup.

So far, only two editions of the T20I Asia Cup have taken place and only one batter has managed to score over 400 runs in the tournament’s history. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five highest run-scorers in T20I Asia Cup.

5. Ibrahim Zadran (Afghanistan) – 196 runs

Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran captures the fifth spot on this list. In the 2022 edition of the T20I Asia Cup, the right-handed batsman scored 196 runs in five games at an average of 65.33. He also scored one half-century in the tournament.

4. Babar Hayat (Hong Kong) – 235 runs

Surprisingly, Hong Kong batter Babar Hayat clinches the fourth spot on this list, with 235 runs in the T20I Asia Cup. He has played five games and owns a batting average of 47.0. He has also slammed a century and a half-century in the tournament.

3. Rohit Sharma (India) – 271 runs

Former Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma mustered 271 runs in nine games in the T20I edition of the tournament. At a strike rate of 141.14, the right-handed batsman scored two half-centuries, including highest score of 83 runs. Sharma retired from T20I cricket in June 2024 and is only active in ODI cricket currently.

2. Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan) – 281 runs

Pakistan ODI skipper Mohammad Rizwan has hit 281 runs in six games in the T20I Asia Cup, which he scored in the 2022 edition. At an average of 56.20, the right-handed batsman has slammed three fifties in the tournament. However, he owns a low strike rate of 117.57.

1. Virat Kohli (India) – 429 runs

Indian batting legend Virat Kohli steals the top spot on this list. The right-handed batsman scored 429 runs in nine innings in the T20I Asia Cup. Kohli owns an incredible batting average of 85.80, hitting three half-centuries and one century in the tournament. His only T20I century came in Asia Cup 2022. Kohli announced his retirement from T20I cricket in June 2024.
