Hobart Hurricanes defeated Melbourne Stars by 7 runs in the BBL 2023-24 league round at MCG.

Opener Mathew Wade and Ben McDermott’s blistering opening partnership led Hobart Hurricanes to a magnificent win over Melbourne Stars at the MCG in the ongoing edition of BBL. Hobart have defeated Melbourne Stars by seven runs in the league round. Mathew Wade scored 63 runs in 41 balls while Ben McDermott scored 50 in 35 balls. They both added 86 runs in 10 overs. Hobart posted 187 runs on the board. Skipper Nathan Ellis also played a magnificent cameo of 16 runs in five balls to finish off the innings.

Hobart also got off to a great start with the ball and picked up Stars opener early in the powerplay. Beau Webster (55), Glenn Maxwell (32) and Marcus Stoinis did try to stabilize Melbourne Stars innings but Hurricanes spinner Nikhil Chaudhary kept things tight. Captain Nathan Ellis bowled a magnificent spell of 2/29 in his four overs. Hobart Hurricanes finished their BBL campaign at fifth place with eight points.
