Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades was fifth rain washout game of the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season.

Persistent rain washed out the final league round encounter between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades at Sydney Showground. After multiple inspections of the ground and persistent drizzle in Sydney forced umpires had to take an unfortunate decision. Melbourne Renegades opener Shaun Marsh will finish his cricketing career without a farewell game. Shaun Marsh announced his retirement and this was his final game in his professional career. Rain also washed out the chances of a deserving farewell from Australian crowd.

This is the fifth game in the ongoing season that got washed out due to rain. Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades were part of two no result games while Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers were involved in one rained out game. This also marked the end of the league stages of the ongoing edition of BBL 2023-24. Now the caravan will move to playoffs round on Friday.

Brisbane Heat finish the league stage with pole position as they won seven out of 10 league games and earned 16 points. Sydney Sixers are second with 14 points and six wins in 10 games. Perth Scorchers are third in the table with 13 points in 10 games, while Adelaide Strikers are fourth with 11 points. All these sides have qualified for the playoff round. After sharing points on Wednesday, Sydney Thunder finished at the bottom of the table with only four points in 10 games.

BBL 2023-24: Most Runs

It will be really tough to chase Adelaide Strikers captain Mathew Short in the leading run-scorer chart. Mathew Short is currently leading the top run-scorer chart with 509 runs. Perth Scorchers Aaron Hardie has jumped up to the second place with 328 runs. Strikers’ Chris Lynn is third on the table with 304 runs. Perth Scorchers Laurie Evans is fourth on the list with 292 runs. Melbourne Stars opener Beau Webster is at fifth place with 262 runs.
