The Queensland management asked him to re-apply for the position after they announced Joe Dawes as the new general manager of elite sides. Wade Seccombe took the job after replacing Darren Lehman.
Queensland Cricket released a statement on Wednesday night, in which Wade Seccombe said, “Winning the BBL was a huge goal of mine as a coach and a massive achievement for the club, and that is something that I will look back on with great pleasure down the track.” Brtisbane Heat won seven out of 10 games in the BBL 2023 season and lost just one.
Wade Seccombe added that he and his family will take a stock of things and then decide on the opportunities coming in the future. Seccombe added, “My family and I will take stock of things from here and see what opportunities may present themselves in the future. I am eternally grateful for their support and the success I have been fortunate to experience as a coach is due to them.”
Queensland Cricket’s newly-appointed general manager Joe Dawes said that Wade Seccomber informed the board that he will not be seeking a new contract. He added, “Wade informed us that he would not be seeking a new contract, and he was upfront about his intentions once he had completed the various post-season reviews with players and staff.”
