Perth Scorchers have won the most titles in the history of the BBL.
The Big Bash League (BBL) is Australia’s premier Twenty20 cricket league. It was first established in 2011, replacing the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, which previously served as Australia’s top-level domestic T20 competition.
The league is traditionally played during the Australian summer, spanning the months of December, January, and February, attracting millions of fans both in stadiums and on television.
The league features eight franchise teams representing major cities across Australia. Over the years, seven of these teams have already won the title, showing just how competitive and unpredictable the league truly is.

BBL 1 – Sydney Sixers

Sydney Sixers won the first edition of the BBL. They finished third in the group stage and later defeated the Hobart Hurricanes in the semi-finals to book their place in the final.
There, they faced the Perth Scorchers, who were undoubtedly the strongest team of the tournament, having topped the group stage. BBL 2 – Brisbane Heat
Brisbane Heat finished fourth in the group stage of BBL 2. They faced the Melbourne Renegades in the semi-finals and defeated them to secure a place in the final. The summit clash was hosted at the WACA in Perth, where the Heat took on the home team, the Perth Scorchers.
Batting first, Brisbane Heat posted a competitive total of 167/5. In response, the Scorchers struggled to keep up with the required momentum and were restricted to 133 in their 20 overs. With a commanding 34-run victory, the Brisbane Heat lifted their first-ever BBL title.
BBL 3 – Perth Scorchers

After losing back-to-back finals in the first two seasons, the Perth Scorchers entered the third edition of the BBL with even greater determination. They finished third in the group stage and went on to defeat the Sydney Sixers in the semi-final, securing a place in the final for the third consecutive year.
In the title clash, held at their home ground in Perth, the Scorchers faced the Hobart Hurricanes. Batting first, Perth posted an impressive total of 191/4 in 20 overs.
In reply, the Hurricanes could manage only 152/7, falling short of the target. With a commanding 39-run victory, the Perth Scorchers finally lifted their first BBL title, marking the beginning of their dominance in the league.
BBL 4 – Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers entered the season to defend their title, and they performed strongly throughout the tournament, finishing second in the group stage. In the semi-final, they faced the Melbourne Stars and defeated them to reach the final for an incredible fourth consecutive time.
The final, played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, turned out to be a gripping contest. The Sixers batted first but were restricted to just 147 runs in their 20 overs. In response, the Scorchers held their nerves during a tense chase and reached 148 on the very last ball of the match, sealing a dramatic victory.
With this thrilling win, Perth Scorchers clinched their second BBL trophy in a row.
BBL 5 – Sydney Thunder

Sydney Thunder secured fourth position in the group stage and went on to face Adelaide Strikers in the semi-final. After a strong performance, they defeated the Strikers and advanced to the final, where they faced the Melbourne Stars.
The final was held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Batting first, the Stars posted a competitive total of 176/9, setting Thunder a target of 177. In response, Sydney Thunder delivered a composed and confident chase, reaching 181/7 in 19.3 overs.

BBL 6 – Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers finished at the top of the table in the group stage of BBL 6. They continued their dominant run by defeating the Melbourne Stars in the semi-final, securing yet another place in the final.
The title clash was hosted at the WACA in Perth, where the Scorchers faced the Sydney Sixers. Batting first, the Sixers managed only 141/9, unable to break through Perth’s disciplined bowling attack.

BBL 8 – Melbourne Renegades

Melbourne Renegades secured the second position in the group stage of the eighth edition of the BBL. In the semi-final, they went on to defeat the Sydney Sixers, earning a spot in the final where they faced their city rivals, the Melbourne Stars.
The final, held at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne, turned into an intense Melbourne derby with high stakes. Batting first, the Renegades posted a modest total of 145/5, which initially didn’t look too challenging.
However, their disciplined bowling and tight fielding turned the game in their favour, as the Stars were restricted to 132/7 in their 20 overs.
With this 13-run victory, the Melbourne Renegades secured their first-ever BBL title, creating a historic moment for the franchise and delivering immense joy to their fans.
BBL 9 – Sydney Sixers

Sydney Sixers secured second position in the group stage of BBL 9. They faced the Melbourne Stars in the Qualifier and advanced to the final after defeating them. The summit clash was held at the Sydney Cricket Ground, but rain interruptions shortened the match, turning it into a 12-over contest.
Batting first, the Sixers posted a competitive total of 116 runs in 12 overs. In response, the Melbourne Stars could manage only 97/6, falling short under the pressure of the chase. With a 19-run victory, the Sydney Sixers emerged triumphant and lifted their second BBL title, adding another proud chapter to their franchise history.
BBL 10 – Sydney Sixers
Defending their trophy, the Sydney Sixers finished at the top of the table in the BBL 10 group stage. In the Qualifier, they defeated the Perth Scorchers and secured their place in the final. The final was played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the Sixers once again faced the Scorchers.
Batting first, the Sixers posted an impressive total of 188/6 in 20 overs. In reply, the Scorchers could only manage 161/9, falling short in the chase. With this victory, the Sydney Sixers successfully defended their title and lifted the trophy for the third time, further solidifying their dominance in the league.
BBL 11 – Perth Scorchers

Perth Scorchers topped the table in the group stage of Season 11. They later defeated the Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier and advanced to the final. The summit clash was held at Docklands Stadium in Melbourne, once again featuring the rivalry between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers.
Batting first, the Scorchers posted a strong total of 171/6. In response, the Sixers struggled throughout the chase and were eventually bowled out for just 92 runs. Scorchers emerged victorious by a massive margin of 79 runs, clinching their fourth title and reinforcing their status as one of the most dominant teams in the league’s history.
BBL 12 – Perth Scorchers
Defending their title once again, the Perth Scorchers dominated the season and secured the top position in the group stage. In the Qualifier, they faced the Sydney Sixers and defeated them to enter the final. There, they took on the Brisbane Heat, who were coming in strong with three consecutive knockout wins.
The final was held at the WACA, Perth. Batting first, Brisbane Heat posted a total of 175 runs. In response, the Scorchers chased it down confidently, scoring 178 in 19.2 overs to win by 5 wickets. With this victory, they successfully defended their title and added a fifth star to their name.
BBL 13 – Brisbane Heat

Brisbane Heat topped the group stage in the 13th edition. However, they were defeated by the Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier, forcing them to take the longer route to the final. They faced the Adelaide Strikers in the Challenger and delivered a strong performance to earn their place in the title clash.
In the final at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Brisbane batted first and posted a competitive total of 166/8.
Their bowlers then showcased incredible discipline and skill, restricting the Sixers to just 112 in 17.3 overs. Brisbane Heat emerged victorious by 53 runs, securing their second BBL title and capping off a dominant campaign.
BBL 14 – Hobart Hurricanes

Hobart Hurricanes secured the top position in the group stage of Season 14. In the Qualifier match, they defeated the Sydney Sixers, earning a spot in the final against the Sydney Thunder.
The final was held at Bellerive Oval, where Sydney Thunder batted first and posted a challenging total of 182/7 in 20 overs. However, the Hurricanes chased it down comfortably with 35 balls to spare, thanks to an electrifying innings by Mitchell Owen.
With this win, Hobart Hurricanes claimed their first-ever BBL title, ending their long wait for a trophy and making history for the franchise.
