BCCI has picked a 30-player list for the probable squad for Asian Games 2026.
The Asian Games 2026 will be one of the key multi-nation tournament that will take place this year. The tournament will take place from September 20 to October 4 in Nagoya City, Japan.
The cricket events in the tournament will take place from September 23 to October 3. India are the defending champions of the cricket event in the Asian Games. In the previous edition in 2023, India won the gold medal while Afghanistan clinched silver.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted a list of 30 probable players for the Asian Games 2026. The Governing Body has submitted the list to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). The final squad will be picked from this pool.

According to a report by the PTI, BCCI has shortlisted Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma as the captaincy candidates for the Asian Games 2026. This means that India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is likely to be overlooked for the campaign.
Notably, the Asian Games will clash with India’s series against West Indies. Hence, BCCI will have to prepare two squads for both campaigns. As a result, many key Indian players will not be part of Asian Games.
Meanwhile, youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have been shortlisted for the Asian Games squad. Many other players who impressed with their performance in IPL 2026 have been added to the 30-player list.
