May 27 was the deadline the BCCI had set to apply for the post of head coach.

Earlier this month, the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) invited applications to hire a new head coach for the Indian senior men’s cricket team. The deadline for applying for the post of Team India head coach was set as May 27. Hilariously, BCCI received around 3,400 fake applications for the position of head coach.

Currently, legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid is the head coach of the Indian senior men’s cricket team. Dravid’s first contract ended after the conclusion of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where the Men in Blue suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final. BCCI then convinced Dravid to extend his contract as the next ICC tournament – the T20 World Cup in June 2024 – wasn’t too far away.

Under Dravid, India won one major tournament, the Asia Cup 2023. They also reached the finals of the ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021–23 but suffered defeats at the hands of Australia in both.

Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, MS Dhoni: BCCI receives fake applications for the role of head coach role

According to a recent report in India Today, the Indian cricket board has received around 3400 fake applications for the position of head coach. PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Virender Sehwag, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and many more applications with celebrity names were identified by the BCCI as fakes.

The report further added that the board will find a different method in the future that will rule out fake applicants.

“Since the application process is in the public domain fans and many people can easily access the form, which is available on the website on BCCI. We may think of reducing all these things going forward we may come up with some new processes of inviting applications which will rule out fake applications,” the BCCI source told IndiaToday.in.
