BCCI announces squads and schedule for India A tour of South Africa ahead of the test series

India A will play two four-day games against South Africa A before the test series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India A squads for the forthcoming tour of South Africa on Thursday, November 30. KS Bharat, the wicket-keeper-batter, has been named captain of the India A team for the tour.

Talking about the India A matches, the first four-day game will be played from December 11 to 14 and it will be followed by an inter-squad three-day match from December 20 to 22. The last four-day match will be played from December 26 to 29.

Overall, the Indian team’s tour will start a three-match T20I series that will be played on December 10, 12, and 14 in Durban, Gqeberha, and Johannesburg. The two sides will then clash in a three-match ODI series that will be played on December 17, 19, and 21 in Johannesburg, Gqeberha, and Paarl.

The two-match Test series will then begin with the first Test starting on December 26 in Centurion. The second and final Test will be played from January 3 in Cape Town.

India A squad and schedule for South Africa A matches

KS Bharat will captain the India A squad against South Africa A, which will include both regulars and newcomers. Some of the names for the first India A v South A match were Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Pradosh Ranjan Paul, and Sarfaraz Khan.  

Shardul Thakur, Pulkit Narang, Sourabh Kumar, Manav Suthar, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Vidwath Kaverappa, and Tushar Deshpande, on the other hand, will lead the bowling attack.

In India A’s second 4-day game, some players will be replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Navdeep Saini during a match.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named to both squads, although his availability is contingent on his physical condition.

The BCCI has also scheduled an inter-squad three-day match including most of the Indian Test stars and members of the 1st India A contingent. The inter-squad competition will take place on December 20-22. This will be an opportunity for the main India squad to prepare for the two-match Test series, which will begin on December 26.

1st four-day match: 11-14 December

2nd three-day match: 20-22 December

3rd four-day match: 26-29 December

Siraj, Mohd. Shami, Navdeep Saini.
