India U19 beat England to lift their sixth U19 World Cup title.
India U19 cricket team scripted a historic triumph in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, clinching their record-extending sixth title with a dominant 100-run victory over England in the final at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe, on February 6, 2026.
Led by captain Ayush Mhatre, the young Indian side remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, showcasing exceptional skill and composure. Electing to bat first, India posted a mammoth 411/9 in their 50 overs, which is the highest ever total in an U19 World Cup final.
The innings was powered by a breathtaking performance from 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed 175 off just 80 balls, laced with 15 fours and 15 sixes. His explosive knock set multiple records, including the highest individual score in a U19 World Cup final and the most boundaries (30) in such a match.
Captain Mhatre contributed a solid 53 off 51 balls, while Abhigyan Kundu added a brisk 40. India’s aggressive approach also led to a record 31 sixes in a Youth ODI final.
In reply, England fought valiantly but fell well short eventually, getting bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs. Caleb Falconer played a fighting knock of 115, but India’s bowlers, including contributions from Ambrish and Kanishk Chouhan ensured a comprehensive win.
This victory adds to India’s previous U19 World Cup titles in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022, underlining their dominance in youth cricket. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team, praising their exceptional talent and inspirational display for young athletes nationwide.
