BCCI make BIG changes in U19 squad due to 'Age Fraud' scandal

The BCCI removed Rohit Yadav from the squad and punished him with a two-year ban.

Australia A are scheduled to tour India for a multi-format series. These two sides will face each other in three T20s, one test, and three ODIs between September 12 and October 2, 2026. The action starts with three T20 matches in Mohali from September 12 to 17.

Just a few days before the series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made some forced changes to the squads. The board has removed Rohit Yadav from the ODI and Test teams following an age-fraud case.

Rohit, who was part of the India U19 squad for the tour of Sri Lanka in July, is originally from Uttar Pradesh. He claimed six wickets to help his team win the final Youth Test against Sri Lanka U19. He was added to the India U19 squad for the upcoming assignments against Australia U19.

Following reports of over 60 players being suspended in Bengal due to age-related discrepancies, the BCCI stated on Tuesday. It confirmed changes made to the U19 ODI squad due to age fraud involving a player named Rohit Yadav.

Rohit Yadav recently made headlines due to age fraud. Several cases have come to light due to the BCCI’s ‘zero-tolerance’ policy at the junior level. Hence, the board is in no mood to spare anyone.

Rohit has been axed from the squad. Saurashtra’s Aryan Savsani will replace him in Youth ODIs, while Haryana’s Tanmay Baloda will replace him in the red-ball match.

The BCCI confirmed it in a press release and said, “The Junior Cricket Committee has named Saurashtra Cricket Association’s Aryan Savsani as Rohit Yadav’s replacement in India U19’s One-Day squad, while Haryana Cricket Association’s Tanmay Baloda has been named as his replacement in the Multi-Day squad.”

This will send a clear message at the junior level that the BCCI will not tolerate age-related fraud and such manipulations. As per a Sportstar report, Rohit has been punished with a two-year ban over a mismatch in his age documents.

Lakshya Raichandani will lead the ODI squad, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as his deputy. On the other hand, Yashbardhan Chauhan and Lakshya Raichandani are captain and vice-captain for the red-ball game.

India U19’s updated squad for Youth ODIs: Lakshya Raichandani (C), Yashbardhan Chauhan (VC), Aaryavir Sehwag, Anvay Dravid (WK), Rajat Baghel (WK), V.K. Vineet, Kushagra Ojha, Arjun Rajput, Manal Chauhan, V. Yashveer, Shavin Vinodh, Mohit Ulva, Chigurupati Venkata, Kavya Patel, Aryan Savsani.

India U19’s updated squad for Youth Test: Yashbardhan Chauhan (C), Lakshya Raichandani (VC), Manal Chauhan, Kush Patel, Manav Krishna (WK), Abhipray Biswas (WK), Ishan Om, Sagar Virk, Kushagra Ojha, Ayaan Akram, Pranav Ragavendra, Priyanshu Singh, Mohit Ulva, Aryan Yadav, Tanmay Baloda.
