Amid rumours of Virat Kohli’s return to test cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come up with a strong reaction. These rumours followed suit after India’s tragic whitewash in the test series against South Africa. The Indian batting order crumbled in home conditions against the Proteas.
Across four innings, India could cross the 200-run mark only once, which is reflective of the poor series that the Gautam Gambhir-led side had. This was the second time in twelve months India have been whitewashed at home in tests.
Virat Kohli’s return not on the cards, says BCCI

The fans have been asking for accountability from the team management after South Africa razed India’s fortress at home. Not just that, they also want India’s most successful test captain to make a return to the test team and rescue India from the crisis.
However, BCCI has come out with a statement crushing all the rumours hinting at Kohli’s return to test cricket.
“What’s being said about Virat Kohli is just a rumour. There has been no conversation with Kohli about this. Do not give weight to rumours. Nothing of that sort has happened,” said BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia to India Today.
Kevin Pietersen wants Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to return
The former England great Kevin Pietersen has expressed his opinion in favour of not just Kohli’s test return but Rohit Sharma’s as well. Pietersen took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to bat for the return of two modern greats.
“I don’t always believe what I read in the media or on social media. But, if it’s half true that both Virat and Rohit are considering playing Test cricket again, then it needs to be taken very very seriously. The survival of Test cricket is a hot topic of conversation and if the biggest stars in the game are wanting to play it again, they must play!” Pietersen tweeted.
