India will travel to Delhi to play Namibia in their next Group A encounter in the T20 World Cup 2026.

India began their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 tournament with a tense win over the United States of America (USA) on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India are set to play all of their matches in India, except one against Pakistan which will be played in Sri Lanka on February 15.

The Indian team has placed in Group A with Pakistan, the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands. Their next match will be against Namibia on February 12 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Talking about the Indian team players, the board has reportedly rejected one of their major requests.

The Indian squad, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, requested relaxations from the board during the World Cup. India’s campaign in the 2026 T20 World Cup began on February 7 and could end on March 8 if they reach the final, totalling just over a month of play—far less than the 45-day window set by the BCCI.

Hence, the players had requested the BCCI to allow their families to travel with them during the T20 World Cup 2026.

Regarding the presence of families during tours and competitions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to deviate from its directives.

Officials from the BCCI have refused to let the players remain with their families. Only on tours longer than 45 days are families, husbands, fiancées, and kids permitted to stay for up to 14 days, but not during the T20 World Cup at home.

The BCCI will not cover the family’s expenses, and the players will not be allowed to remain with them. However, it has been verified that the players can make separate arrangements for their friends and family to stay.

The Indian team management had approached the BCCI to ask whether wives and fiancées can travel with the team and whether they can also stay with them. The board has made it clear that families won’t be staying with the players. They can make separate arrangements, though, if they want to,” a BCCI source told the Indian Express.

As the Indian team travels across the cities for this World Cup, the players will have to stay with the team at the designated team hotel.

In an indication that the BCCI was not going to change its position, families were also prohibited throughout the bilateral series preceding the ICC event.

The squad will use private charter flights for logistical travel during the competition. Players bring their own cooks; instead of staying on-site, these chefs are based in local hotels and deliver meals to the team.

The BCCI strictly enforced this directive after the 2024-25 Australia tour, where players were seen travelling separately with their families instead of being with the full contingent.

Where will India play their T20 World Cup 2026 group A matches?

The Indian team will play the majority of their Group A matches at home in India, barring the one game against Pakistan, which will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Who will India face next in Group A in the T20 World Cup?

India will face Namibia on February 12 in Delhi in their next Group A encounter.
