India’s struggles in Ireland and England have led to a performance review by the BCCI.

The champions of the T20 World Cup 2026, Indian Cricket Team, is having a tough time in the T20I format as they have lost yet another T20I series. The side that won the World Cup earlier this year in March faced an embarrassing series defeat to Ireland by 0–2 and are now 0–3 down against England, having already lost the series.

They are having a tough time batting in overseas conditions, and the top order continues to fail, with no major player stepping up. Shreyas Iyer, who was given the captaincy of the team in place of Suryakumar Yadav, who was sacked as captain and dropped from the team due to his poor run of form, is yet to register his first win as captain.

The team management and the players are facing massive criticism from fans and the media as they continue to struggle in away conditions. Ireland defeated India for the first time in international cricket, and England defeated India in a T20I bilateral series of two or more games for the first time.

This shows that the Indian players are currently out of form, and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials have announced that they will review the team’s underperformance with the management and leadership.

The BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, told the media that they would be conducting a review of the Indian team’s downfall in T20I cricket. He said:

“We will have a review meeting with the core members of the team to discuss what went wrong in England. The BCCI is currently observing the performance of the Indian T20 team, which has not been up to the mark in the ongoing series against England. However, this is not something abnormal and can happen in international cricket. We consider it a purely bad phase,” Saikia said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

He later said, “The review meeting will be strictly about the team’s performance and how to address the shortcomings. Nothing else will be discussed.”

After this, he spoke about the ODI series and expressed confidence in the Indian team to make a comeback. He said:

“Since there is an ODI series, we are hoping that the team will be back in good form,” Saikia said, adding, “Once the ODI series gets over on July 19 and the team comes back, we will have a review meeting.”
