India lost T20I series against Ireland and England.
After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Indian Cricket Team toured the UK for a white-ball series. This tour comprised of two T20Is against Ireland, and five T20Is and three ODIs against England.
Shreyas Iyer was appointed the captain of India’s T20I, replacing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 winning captain Suryakumar Yadav.
However, it wasn’t an ideal start for Iyer as India lost the Ireland series 2-0 in a historic whitewash. Following that, they failed to win a single encounter against the England and lost the series 4-0, as one game was abandoned due to rain.
Shortly after this, the ODIs were played. India won the first match convincingly, but fell short in the remaining two fixtures, and eventually lost the series 2-1. Essentially, the Men in Blue lost all the three series on the UK tour.
Following such defeats, many cricket pundits and fans questioned the team strategies and the devastating performances of the players. This called for a review of the tour from the central cricketing authority of India.
BCCI to review team performances on the UK tour in first half of August – Reports

The Times of India journalist, Gaurav Gupta has reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the matter in its hands to review the performances of the players on the UK tour. After losing two consecutive T20I series and the ODI series against England, BCCI officials will conduct a review.
The BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had told media:
“The BCCI is currently observing the performance of the Indian T20 team, which has not been up to the mark in the ongoing series against England. However, this is not something abnormal and can happen in international cricket.”
While the board is not very concerned about it, because it is a normal thing in sport, the required actions will be taken; and it will be assessed how things can be improved.
Saikia also stressed that the review meeting will be
“Strictly about the performance of the team and how course correction can be done with regards to shortfalls. Nothing else will be discussed.”
Following the UK tour, the Indian team is now playing a three-match T20I series in Zimbabwe. They have registered a win in the opening encounter of the series and would look to seal the series in the 2nd T20I.
It has been reported that the review will be conducted in the first week of August, after the Zimbabwe tour.
India’s ODI team too is under constant scrutiny as they are gearing up for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. The management has been trying different combinations, especially with the bowling line-up considering the South African conditions.
