Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach T Dilip sacked by BCCI - Reports

Abhishek Nayar had joined Team India as assistant coach in July 2024.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sacked two support staff members of Indian Cricket Team. According to reports, the BCCI has terminated contracts of assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach T Dilip.
The action arrives after India’s poor show in Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. The Rohit Sharma & Co. lost the test series against Australia 1-3 earlier this year. They started the series with a victory in the opening game by 295 runs. However, they then lost three out of next four games to lose the BGT title for the first time since 2014-25.
Interestingly, India were expected to reach the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third straight time. However, due to their home series defeat against New Zealand and away defeat against Australia, they failed to reach the WTC 2023-25 final. Australia and South Africa will clash in the ICC WTC finale in June.
Abhishek Nayar, T Dilip sacked by BCCI- Reports
A BCCI source informed The Indian Express that assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, fielding coach T Dilip, and Strength & Conditioning Coach Soham Desai have been sacked by the BCCI.
“Nayar, Dilip and Soham have been informed about it last week. The Indian board will not have any new appointee as of now,” the source said.
Notably, the report added that any support staff who have been with the team for more than three years will be removed from the service. Trainer Soham Desai had completed three years with the Indian Team. Adrian le Roux has replaced him for the role.
Former Saurashtra batter Sitanshu Kotak and Ryan ten Doeschate will continue their roles as support staff members in the Indian Team. They will oversee the duties of Nayar and Dilip. BCCI has not appointed any other support staff members yet.
Meanwhile, India’s next international assignment will be against England. India will tour England for five test matches from June to August 2025. Test campaign is against England. The first test will commence on June 20, while the fifth test will start on July 31.
