Dream11 exited as the Indian team jersey sponsor after the Online Gaming Bill 2025 was passed.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set a new base price, raising the valuation for the principal sponsors of the Indian team. A new jersey sponsor was needed after Dream11 exited one year before their three-year contract was to end.

This was due to the Indian government passing the new Online Gaming Bill 2025, which prohibited the operations of real-money gaming companies in the country.

Industry insiders, as per Cricbuzz, have confirmed that the new reserve price, especially for the ICC and ACC competitions, is INR 3.5 crores for bilateral matches and approximately INR 1.5 crores for multilateral games.

Gaming, betting, cryptocurrency, and tobacco firms are not allowed to bid, according to the BCCI’s announcement of the Invitation for Expression of Interest for the Indian team’s Lead Sponsor Rights on Tuesday, September 2.

Since they might be at odds with the current BCCI sponsors, producers of athletic wear and apparel, banking institutions, financial firms, non-alcoholic cold beverages, fans, mixer grinders, safety locks, and insurance providers would also not be permitted.

BCCI seeks sponsorship for the next three years

These market-discussed numbers are marginally greater than the present rates of INR 1.12 crores for international matches and INR 3.17 crores for bilateral games. The BCCI hopes that this modification will result in a minimum valuation uplift of more than 10% for bilateral competitions and approximately 3% for multilateral tournaments.

The BCCI is also seeking sponsorship for the next three years, with reports stating that around 130 matches are scheduled during this period, including the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026 and the ICC ODI World Cup in 2027. The board might make more than INR 400 crores based on the updated base price. Of course, the final number might be far higher.

Since the bidding is scheduled for September 16, it is essentially impossible to onboard the new sponsor prior to Asia Cup 2025, which starts on September 9.
