As per the original schedule, India are set tour Bangladesh for three-match ODI and three-match T20I series later this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a huge step, as reportedly, they have put India’s tour of Bangladesh in August 2026 on hold, amidst the ongoing Mustafizur Rahman controversy.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Friday that it will host India for a T20I series and a three-match ODI series in September of this year.

According to a BCB media announcement, the three ODIs will happen on September 1, 3, and 6, while the T20Is will happen on September 9, 12, and 13. The Indian team will travel to Bangladesh for their limited-overs match on August 28.

The confirmed itinerary ensures a season full of international cricket in Bangladesh, providing supporters across the country the opportunity to watch top-level cricket at home. Details of match venues will be announced in due course,” the BCB revealed in a statement on Friday.

The first match of the ODI series will take place on September 1, followed by the second match on September 3 and the third match on September 6. A three-match Twenty20 International series will take place after this, with the first game taking place on September 9, the second on September 12, and the final on September 13.

Every day, the ongoing hostilities between Bangladesh and India take a different turn. Mustafizur Rahman, a pacer, was cut from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)’ roster for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season as a result of the incident, which started with the murder of minorities in Bangladesh.

In the midst of all of this, another startling development has surfaced: the BCCI may now postpone its journey to Bangladesh. The BCCI has postponed Team India’s scheduled white-ball tour in Bangladesh, according to a Times of India story.

According to reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board met on Saturday night to determine how they would react to the BCCI’s action.

BCCI’s stance remains the same. The board will need approval from the government before going ahead with any tour to Bangladesh. As of now, BCCI hasn’t confirmed the itinerary. This is independent of Mustafizur’s ouster,” a BCCI official told TOI.

BCCI had deferred its tour of Bangladesh in 2025 due to diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Why did KKR release Mustafizur Rahman?

The BCCI instructed KKR to release the pacer due to “recent developments,” primarily referring to rising geopolitical tensions and civil unrest in Bangladesh. Political pressure and concerns over public safety also influenced the board’s decision to intervene before the season began.

How many matches are India set to play in Bangladesh in 2026?

As per the schedule revealed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, India is set to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh later this year.
