The fate of Asia Cup 2025 is uncertain amid the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan. A meeting of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is scheduled to take place in Dhaka on July 24 to decide the future of the tournament.
According to reports in Sports Tak, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have urged ACC to shift the venue for the meeting from Dhaka. Notably, India are the hosts of Asia Cup 2025. However, many cricket fans have demanded to boycott the tournament and not play Pakistan.
Notably, India have not played bilateral cricket with Pakistan since 2012/13 series. Both teams only face each other in the ICC or ACC tournaments. However, this year, there has been public demand to boycott Pakistan in Asia Cup in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

According to a report by Sportstak, the BCCI is under immense pressure from sponsors and broadcasters to participate in Asia Cup 2025. Morever, the broadcasters also want India to face Pakistan in the tournament. The India vs Pakistan game is the biggest revenue-generating event for broadcasters.
In May 2025, there were border tensions between India and Pakistan. Indian Armed Forces conducted Operation Sindoor in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was also suspended for around a week. Since then, there have been demands by fans to completely boycott cricketing ties with Pakistan.
According to the plans, Asia Cup 2025 is expected to commence from September 5 and conclude on September 21. Recently, BCCI postponed an upcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh to 2026 after not getting permission from the Indian government to travel to Bangladesh.
