[Watch] BCCI shares exclusive footage of MS Dhoni reuniting with ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 trophy in Mumbai

India lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 trophy under MS Dhoni’s captaincy at the Wankhede Stadium.

April 2, 2011 is registered as one of the most iconic dates in the history of Indian cricket. Because it was only the second time that the Men in Blue got their hands on the most prestigious trophy in the game, the ICC Cricket World Cup. And MS Dhoni made it possible after a wait of 28 years. India had won their maiden World Cup in 1983.

Kapil Dev took them to glory and created history. But after that, India had a few chances, and they even made it to the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 but lost against Australia. But then, Dhoni completed the dreams of billions of Indian fans when he smashed that iconic six at Wankhede Stadium to seal the deal.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video on Twitter (now X) featuring MS Dhoni. MSD was seen with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 trophy that he won in 2011. It was a nostalgic moment for the fans who celebrated India’s win. Dhoni was also very happy and signed his photo at the BCCI’s headquarters.

The video shared had Dhoni standing side-by-side with the trophy. That video has sparked fire among the fans, and it is going viral on various social media platforms. Indian fans recently celebrated the anniversary of that iconic win. Notably, MS Dhoni was at Wankhede for IPL 2024 match between his side Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Dhoni’s side won the game by 20 runs.

MS Dhoni also gave fans a memorable moment in the first innings of the game when he came out to bat. He smashed MI skipper Hardik Pandya for three consecutive sixes in the 20th over to take CSK over the 200-run mark. CSK have done well so far in the IPL 2024.
