BCCI's bank balance revealed! Amount will make you go bonkers

As per reports, the BCCI had a bank balance of INR 20,686 crores as of 12 months back.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been the richest cricket body in the entire world. The amount of money that they generate every year is staggering, potentially making them the most powerful boards in the world, even stronger than the International Cricket Council (ICC). 

The BCCI, through the international cricket as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL), earn huge chunks of money. The number grows every year and the last year’s number are very high, revealing the amount of money the governing body earns. 

As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the BCCI had a bank balance of INR 20,686 crore as of 12 months back. The number would’ve surely grown this year, and it would be revealed at the AGM on September 28, even though the governing body pays income tax in thousands of crores. 

BCCI bank balance increased from INR 6,059 crore – Reports

The statement of the BCCI after the 2024 AGM revealed that the bank balance increased from INR 6,059 crore. It read: 

“Honorary Secretary apprised the members that since 2019, the cash and bank balance of BCCI has increased from INR 6,059 crore which was before disbursing any amount to the state cricket associations to INR 20,686 crore which is after disbursing all amounts owed to the state cricket associations.” 

The governing body also stated that since 2019, they have added INR 14,627 crore in the last five years. Additionally, there has been an increase of INR 4,193 crore since the last financial year. The statement added: 

“Therefore, since 2019, BCCI has added INR 14,627 crore in the last five years. This is an increase of INR 4,193 crore since the last financial year. Further, since 2019, the general fund too has increased from INR 3,906 crore to INR 7,988 crore which is an increase of INR 4,082 crore.” 

The reports added that BCCI pays around INR 3,150 crore towards income tax. It read: 

“The BCCI has provisioned INR 3,150 crore towards income tax obligations for FY 2023-24. While BCCI is on the right track before the courts and tribunals, it has still made provisions towards paying any obligations that may arise towards tax.”
