Beau Webster made his test debut in the BGT 2024-25 against India.
Australian all-rounder Beau Webster has signed a three-month contract with Warwickshire for the 2025 season for the County Championship and the T20 Blast.
The 31-year-old has made this decision keeping in mind the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final against South Africa, starting on June 11 at Lord’s.
Earlier, the Tasmanian all-rounder made his debut for Australia in the fifth test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Sydney. He top-scored for the hosts with 96 runs in the match, including a half-century in the first innings, which helped Australia clinch the five-match series by 3-1.
Webster, who replaced Mitchell Marsh in the side, is set to compete with Cameron Green for the No. 6 spot in the XI for the WTC final. Green, who missed the entire summer due to back surgery, is expected to be available for the WTC final as a specialist batsman.
Webster’s deal with Warwickshire will keep him available from May to July, covering both the County Championship and the T20 Blast. However, if he is selected for Australia’s WTC final squad, he will likely miss a few Blast matches.
Beau Webster joins Warwickshire for the 2025 season.
Speaking about joining Warwickshire, Webster shared his excitement about being part of the team. He also reflected on his previous experience playing in the competition with Gloucestershire.
Webster said, “I’m really pleased to sign for the Bears for part of the 2025 season. Having played Birmingham League cricket [for Knowle and Dorridge] in the past, I have great memories of the people and the area. I played some Championship cricket last summer with Gloucestershire and loved the challenge of the competition.“
Australia’s next red-ball assignment is a two-match test series in Sri Lanka. The series will be crucial for the inexperienced trio of Nathan McSweeney, Sam Konstas, and Beau Webster to make a lasting impression ahead of the WTC final.
