ENG vs IND: Ben Stokes achieves special test cricket record; Joins Garry Sobers and Jacques Kallis in elite list

Ben Stokes scored a century in the first innings of the Manchester test.
The fourth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team is currently underway at Old Trafford, Manchester. During the encounter, England skipper Ben Stokes achieved a special milestone in test cricket.
Stokes completed his hundred on day 4 of the test. He slammed his 14th hundred in his test cricket and also reached 7000 runs in the longest format of the game. Having already taken 229 wickets in test cricket, Stokes completed a rare double of scoring 7000 runs and picking 200 wickets in tests.
With this, he became third only cricketer to achieve the feat. He has joined the likes of former West Indies cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers and former South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis. Sobers scored 8032 runs and picked 235 wickets across 93 tests during his career, while Kallis scored 13,289 runs and clinched 292 wickets in 166 tests in his career.

Stokes had already completed 200 wickets in test cricket last year. The England captain has so far played 115 tests, in which he has scored 7032 runs and picked 229 wickets.
Talking about the match, Stokes won the toss and opted to field first. England bowled out the visitors for 358 on the back of captain Stokes’ five-wicket haul before scoring 669 in the first innings on the back of daddy hundreds from Joe Root and Stokes.
