Ben Stokes scored 20 runs off 52 balls against India in the first innings at Headingley.
England Cricket Team skipper Ben Stokes didn’t have a great outing with the bat in the ongoing game against the Indian Cricket Team. The first match of the five-match series between the teams is taking place at Headingley in Leeds.
Ben Stokes, who had a terrific outing with the ball, failed to replicate his heroics with the bat. The all-rounder walked out to bat when his team lost Ollie Pope (106) early on day three. It seemed that he would act as a great support to Harry Brook.
But that wasn’t the case as Ben Stokes was back in the hut after a start. He looked in decent touch with the bat and played good shots. But he ended up throwing his wicket away as he chased the delivery outside off, which led to his downfall in the first innings.
Mohammed Siraj came from round the wicket and bowled a length delivery that was angled in and nipped away as Stokes attempted to play square. He tried to run it towards the point but got a thick edge through to Pant.
What caught the attention of many was the reaction of Stokes after he got out. The English captain was extremely disappointed and angry with himself as he threw his bat up in frustration and then caught and clutched it between his jaw and chest as he walked back.

Ben Stokes couldn’t make a bigger impact with the bat as he was back in the hut after scoring just 20 runs off 52 balls. With his wicket, England lost their fifth wicket and were reduced to 276 for five inside 65 overs.
While Ben Stokes struggled to score big, Harry Brook stole the limelight with his brilliant innings. He faced a heartbreak as he was back in the hut after scoring 99 runs. His heroics powered England to a total of over 400 runs.
