5. 5/99 vs Australia, Sydney, 2019

Kuldeep Yadav’s first five-wicket haul in an away test came at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) against Australia in 2019. It came in a drawn game, which India dominated. India declared the first innings at 622/7, with Cheteshwar Pujara (193) and Rishabh Pant (159*) scoring centuries. Indian pacers took early wickets, and then Kuldeep spun his web and took 5/99 and took the first and last wickets. Australia got all out for 300, and India enforced the follow-on. However, the rain-marred game ended in a draw.

4. 5/82 vs West Indies, Delhi, 2025

Kuldeep’s next best figures came in the home game against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It is never easy to pick Kuldeep on Indian pitches, and he delivered a masterclass in first innings of the test in 2025.

He recorded figures of 5/82, which helped India bowl out the West Indies for 248 after scoring 518/5d in the first innings. Kuldeep bowled some great deliveries, and the West Indies batters found it hard to pick him.

3. 5/72 vs England, Dharamsala, 2024

A Man of the Match award in tests is always a cherished milestone every player wants to have. And when it comes on home soil, it is always special. Kuldeep’s second MOTM and first at home in tests came against England in 2024 in Dharamsala.

He had an all-round game as he took 5/72 in the first innings and followed it up with 2/40 in the second. India batted once and scored 477, which included Kuldeep’s 30 runs as well. The hosts won the game by an innings and 64 runs, and Kuldeep was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round effort.

2. 5/57 vs West Indies, Rajkot, 2018

A maiden fifer is always special for any test bowler. Kuldeep took his first five-wicket haul in his fourth test, which was against the West Indies in Rajkot in 2018. Before this, he had two four-wicket hauls but couldn’t complete a fifer.

In this game, Prithvi Shaw made his debut and slammed a 99-ball ton. Kuldeep recorded figures of 5/57 in the second innings to close out things, helping India win the game by an innings and 272 runs.

1. 5/40 vs Bangladesh, Chattogram, 2022

Kuldeep Yadav’s first Man of the Match award in test cricket came against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2022. He delivered an all-round performance in the game and took eight wickets in the match. In the first innings, he took 5/40 and also scored vital 40 runs with the bat.

Then, he took 3/73 in the second innings, which helped India win the game by 188 runs. He was unplayable on that surface and was a key contributor in the game.
