Chennai Super Kings did some big signings at IPL 2024 auction.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings were very active during IPL 2024 auction in Dubai. They made some noticeable picks and signed some exciting players at the event. CSK entered the auction with a remaining purse value of INR 31.40 crore. They released the likes of Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, Kyle Jamieson, Sisanda Magala, and Ambati Rayudu (retired) ahead of the auction.

Hence, they were in need of some all-rounders and middle-order batters. Eventually, they were pretty successful in getting who would meet their requirements. CSK broke their bank to acquire Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell for INR 14 crores and compensated with a steal-deal of Rachin Ravindra (1.8 crore) and Mustafizur Rahman (2 crore). They also got back Shardul Thakur for INR 4 crores, while the franchise surprised everyone when they bought uncapped Sameer Rizvi (8.40 crore).

CSK have certainly strengthened their side with a few key all-rounders who can contribute with both bat and ball. Chennai have always targeted all-rounders at the auction and already have a number of those in the squad. They have a settled opening pair with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Veteran Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane was the revolution at No. 3 and is likely to continue. Now there will be a toss up between Rachin and Mitchell for No. 4. Well, CSK can pick Rachin during home games because he is a very good player of spin and is also a useful spinner, while Mitchell can play in away matches.
