The fourth day of the third BGT 2024-25 test at the Gabba was marred significantly by rain.

The third test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 at the Gabba is now gradually moving towards a draw.

Resuming their innings at 51/4 on day 4, India lost captain Rohit Sharma cheaply after a brilliant set-up by Australian skipper Pat Cummins.

KL Rahul once again emerged as India’s saviour, playing a gritty 84-run knock that included eight boundaries. Rahul was fortunate on the first ball of the day when he was dropped by Steve Smith at second slip off Cummins’ bowling.

Rahul was joined by Ravindra Jadeja, who made his comeback after being benched in the first two tests of the series. The duo added 67 runs for the sixth-wicket partnership. Jadeja brought up his 21st test half-century and stitched a 53-run partnership with Nitish Reddy (16).

In the last few overs of the day, tailenders Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep managed to avoid the follow-on.

Australia’s hopes of winning the test have taken a major hit with Josh Hazlewood’s calf injury on the fourth day. The speedster has been ruled out of the game and is likely to miss the Boxing Day test at Melbourne.

Brisbane weather forecast for day 5 of the third test

According to Accuweather, there is 90% chance of rain on Wednesday in Brisbane with showers expected in the afternoon. Cloud cover will be present throughout the day with humidity of 87%. The day will see maximum and minimum temperatures of 30 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively.

If the weather remains as similar as predicted, the match will most probably end in a draw.
