The BGT 2027 will be played in January and February.
India are set to host Australia in a high-stakes five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series from January to February 2027. The series is a key part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, with India needing strong results to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced the five venues for the contest, with Nagpur, Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi and Ahmedabad included in the schedule.
India will play the opening Test in Nagpur before travelling to Chennai for the second match. The third Test is scheduled in Guwahati, followed by the fourth Test in Ranchi and the final match in Ahmedabad.
However, there could now be a change to the BGT 2027 venue list. According to a report by Dainik Jagran, the fourth Test in Ranchi could be moved to another city because of concerns over the early sunset during the winter months.

The fourth Test is currently scheduled to take place at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi from February 19 to 23, 2027.
Reports claimed that the Indian team management has raised concerns with the BCCI about the amount of daylight available in Ranchi during this period. The concern is that an early sunset could lead to a loss of playing time and make it harder to complete the required 90 overs in a day.
The BCCI has not officially announced any venue change yet. Therefore, Ranchi remains the scheduled venue for the fourth Test at the moment.
Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Rajkot in contention to host 4th BGT 2027 Test
If the Ranchi Test is moved, three cities are reportedly being considered as possible alternatives -Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Rajkot.
No replacement venue has been confirmed so far by the BCCI. The match is also expected to happen on the same date, February 19-23, if a venue change is eventually approved.
This means the current BGT 2027 schedule remains unchanged officially, but the fourth Test venue could be the subject of further discussions between the BCCI and other stakeholders.
