Jasprit Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker of the BGT 2024-25.

The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 has exceeded expectations with all five tests being exciting and captivating. India started the series with a dominant win in Perth before Australia roared back with comprehensive victories in Adelaide and Melbourne.

The highlight of the series has been the exceptional fast bowling on display. The pitches have supported the seamers, offering significant sideways movement across all venues.

The best batting conditions on offer were in Melbourne where both teams scored over 350 runs in their first innings and the match went on till the last session on day 5.

India vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah has been the one-man army in the series. The speedster has brought back his side into the contests time and again. He’s the leading wicket-taker of the series.

His impressive bowling performances in the BGT 2024-25 saw him break the 47-year old record of a former legendary spinner.

Bumrah has taken 32 wickets in the BGT 2024-25 so far at an average of 13. He went past Bishan Singh Bedi’s 31 wickets from the 1977 tour of Australia. Bumrah now holds the record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler in a series away from home.

The Indian pacer is now tied with Harbhajan Singh’s 32 wickets from the 2001 BGT for the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a BGT series.

Bumrah reached this milestone when he dismissed Marnus Labuschagne in the first session of Day 2 of the Sydney test. He had earlier removed Usman Khawaja on the last ball of Day 1.

The SCG test is nicely poised, with India leading by 82 runs in the second innings with six wickets in hand. Bumrah’s participation in the match is now uncertain after he left the field for scans following the lunch break.
