Mitchell Marsh scored nine runs in the second BGT 2024-25 test in Adelaide.
Star Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been in the spotlight due to ongoing fitness concerns in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Marsh’s participation in the series became a matter of speculation ever since he pulled up sore after bowling 17 overs in the Perth test.
His limited bowling workload leading up to the Adelaide test and the addition of Beau Webster as cover further fueled speculation about his availability for the Brisbane test. However, the Australian all-rounder has recently provided an injury update putting all the doubts to bed.

Speaking to the media ahead of the third test, Mitchell Marsh dismissed concerns over his bowling workload, expressing full confidence in his preparation.
Marsh said, “I’ll try and be ready to bowl as much as Patty [Cummins] needs me. Our all-rounders haven’t bowled a hell of a lot in Australia the last few years, but I am really thankful for our medical staff and Ronnie [coach Andrew McDonald] and Patty who allowed me the space between the first and second Test to just get right for the game.”
Marsh expressed his desire to fulfill any role required, whether it involves providing rest for the frontline bowlers or stepping up to take wickets.
He added, “For me, it’s about being able to contribute, whether that’s five overs with a key wicket or just bowling overs to give our boys a chop out. Right now, it [the back] is feeling as good as it has felt.”
Marsh holds the key for Australia in Brisbane. The Australian top order is yet to find the form and the hosts are heavily reliant on Travis Head. After a successful summer in 2023-24, the team management will hope that Marsh can get back in form and provide valuable support to Head in the middle order.
