Mohammed Siraj has so far taken 13 wickets in the ongoing BGT 2024-25.

The highly-anticipated Boxing Day test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 started on Thursday, December 26. For the first time in the series, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first.

Both teams made key tactical changes for this clash. Australia brought in New South Wales youngster Sam Konstas to replace the out-of-form Nathan McSweeney, while India opted for an extra all-rounder, Washington Sundar, in place of Shubman Gill.

The hosts got off to a fantastic start, putting together an 89-run opening stand. Debutant Sam Konstas grabbed the spotlight by ramping Jasprit Bumrah three times in a single over.

An interesting moment unfolded just before the Tea break when Mohammed Siraj, midway through a long spell, decided to play mind games with Marnus Labuschagne by switching the bails on the non-striker’s end.

This superstition worked, as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja just two overs later on the first ball of his spell.

Meanwhile at the time of writing India finds themselves in a spot of bother with Australia 211/2 after the Tea break. Marnus Labuschagne (61*) and Steve Smith (30*) are steady at the crease for the hosts. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah have picked up a wicket each for the visitors. India will hope for quick wickets before the end of the day to make a comeback in the test.
