Mohammed Siraj struck twice in his morning spell on day 2 at the SCG.

India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj bowled a fiery spell in the morning of day 2 of the fifth BGT 2024-25 test in Sydney and accounted for the huge wickets of Sam Konstas and Travis Head.

Konstas resumed his battle with Jasprit Bumrah in the morning and hit him for two fours, one of which was his trademark reverse-ramp. Konstas reined in himself a bit more today than he did on his debut at the MCG.

However, the young Aussie opener was eventually sucked in by a full ball from Siraj for the score of 23.

After a few length and back-of-length balls, Siraj dished out the tempting delivery – full and outside the off-stump. Konstas let his instincts take over and went for the drive but, with the ball shaping away, managed a thick outside edge that was taken safely by Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully.

Konstas’ wicket brought the marauding Head, the leading run-scorer of the series to the crease. On his second ball, Head got a full ball in line with the stumps and he flicked it for a boundary. But on the next delivery, he got a jaffa from Siraj.

The ball shaped in beautifully with a straight seam, was in line of the stumps, hit the good length, and bounced a bit extra than Head anticipated. Siraj crammed Head for any room and the left-hander got in a tangle, managing an edge to KL Rahul at second slip.

Siraj and the Indians were pumped up with these two strikes in a single over.

Earlier, Bumrah had got rid of Marnus Labuschagne in just his second over of the day.

At the time of writing, Australia are 58/4, trailing by 127 more runs.
