Rishabh Pant made his test debut in 2018 in England.

On Sunday, Rishabh Pant joined MS Dhoni and Syed Kirmani in an elite list of Indian wicket-keepers following his catch of Australian opener Usman Khawaja on day 2 of the third BGT 2024-25 test.

On Day 1 at the Gabba, only 13.2 overs were bowled. Day 2 got underway at its scheduled time, and a full session was played out as rain stayed away.

India, who had opted to bowl first on day 1, made three dents in the opening session on day 2. Jasprit Bumrah claimed the wickets of Khawaja and McSweeney, while Nitish Kumar Reddy removed Marnus Labuschagne.

Bumrah got Khawaja with a peach. From around the wicket, he angled the ball into the left-hander, pitching outside the off-stump. The ball straightened and took the outside edge of Khawaja’s bat that the batsman had left hanging.

Pant received an easy catch which he took without any hiccup. This was Pant’s 135th catch in test cricket, and to go with his 15 stumpings, the 27-year-old has now completed 150 dismissals in test cricket, becoming only the third Indian wicket-keeper to get to this tally.

In test cricket, MS Dhoni holds the record for the most dismissals affected by an Indian wicket-keeper with 294 dismissals. He is followed by Syed Kirmani, who affected 198 dismissals. Behind them is Pant, with 150 dismissals.
