Rohit Sharma spoke about his availability for the Perth test after the conclusion of the IND vs NZ test series.

India captain Rohit Sharma has dropped a huge hint about his availability (or non-availability) for the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia.

Rohit was queried about it in the post-match press conference in Mumbai, where India slumped to a 25-run defeat on Sunday against New Zealand, conceding the series 0-3 and the first-ever whitewash at home in a series of three of more games.

There have been reports suggesting that Rohit, who is set to lead for the first time in test cricket in Australia, will miss the first test of the five-match series, starting on November 22 due to personal reasons.

Will Rohit Sharma play in the Perth test against Australia?

Rohit is likely to miss the Perth test. After the series loss against New Zealand, Rohit was asked if he would feature in the first test against Australia, the Indian captain replied, “Right now, I am not too sure whether I will be going, but let’s see fingers crossed.”

“I was not at my best”: Rohit Sharma after series defeat vs New Zealand

Sharma admitted that he wasn’t at his best against New Zealand both as a batsman and captain. Rohit scored 91 runs in six innings in this series.

He said, “It just didn’t come off. When it doesn’t come off, it doesn’t look that great. There are certain ideas, certain methods that I go into bat with. Sometimes it doesn’t come off, and this series it hasn’t come off, which I am very disappointed with.”

“As a captain as well, I was not at my best in leading the team, and with the bat as well. That is from a personal point of view.”
