BGT 2024-25: [Watch] "Stupid Stupid Stupid" Angry Sunil Gavaskar slams Rishabh Pant for throwing away his wicket in MCG test

Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 28 runs in India’s first innings at the MCG.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar lashed out furiously at Rishabh Pant for his “stupid shot” and for “throwing away his wicket” during India’s first innings of the fourth BGT 2024-25 test at the MCG.

Pant was not out on six runs at stumps on day 2. He started day 3 in an attacking fashion by smashing Pat Cummins for a six down the ground after skipping down the pitch.

He scored 28 runs off 37 balls. During his stay, he played a few unorthodox shots. One of them was his trademark pull shot as he shuffles across the off-stump while losing his balance. Most of the time, Pant has connected this shot in his career.

However, he failed to connect it both times today and lost his wicket on the second attempt, top-edging the ball to deep thirdman.

Gavaskar was irritated by Pant’s poor shot selection as his dismissal left India at 191/6.

While commentating for ABC Sport, an angry Gavaskar said, “Stupid, stupid & STUPID. You have got two fielders there and you still go for that. Look where you’ve been caught at deep third man. That is throwing away your wicket. You have to understand the situation as well. That is a stupid shot. That is letting down your team badly. He should not be going in the Indian dressing room. He should be going in the other dressing room.”
