Jasprit Bumrah took eight wickets in the first test of BGT 2024-25 in Perth.

India created history in the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 by becoming the first team to defeat Australia at Perth’s new Optus Stadium in a test match.

Australia, who had an impressive record at Optus Stadium with four wins in four outings, displayed shambolic performances with the bat against the Indian bowlers.

Jasprit Bumrah starred for the visitors, picking up eight wickets across both innings. Bumrah’s bowling brilliance helped India take a 46-run lead in the first innings despite getting bowled out for just 150 runs.

The two teams will now meet in Adelaide for the second test of the series. The second test, which is scheduled to start on December 6, will be a day-night encounter.

Onee of the greatest fast bowlers: Travis Head on Jasprit Bumrah

Travis Head was Australia’s best performer, scoring a counter-attacking 89 in the second innings. Having been a thorn in India’s side in the past couple of years, Head batted disdainfully throughout his innings but eventually succumbed to Bumrah.

Speaking to the reporters before the second test, Head shared his admiration for India’s premier pacer.

Head said, “Jasprit will go down as probably one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game. I think we’re finding that at the moment, how challenging he can be, and it’s nice to play against that.

Continuing his praise for Bumrah, the South Australian acknowledged that Bumrah is the kind of bowler he’d proudly tell his grandkids about.

Head continued, “It’s gonna be nice to go back and look at your career and tell the grandkids that you faced him. So not a bad series of playing with him. Hopefully, I’ll face him a few more times, but he is as challenging as it gets.
