Top 10 bowlers with most wickets in BPL history ft. Mustafizur Rahman

Shakib Al Hasan leads the list with the most wickets.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has steadily carved out its own identity in the world of T20 cricket, producing high-scoring thrillers, passionate crowds, and a stage where bowlers are constantly tested under pressure.

In a tournament often dominated by power hitters and flat pitches, it is the bowlers who have had to rely on skill, variation, and mental toughness to make an impact across seasons.

Over the years, the Bangladesh Premier League has witnessed several standout performers with the ball, from local stalwarts to overseas stars, who have consistently delivered breakthroughs and controlled games.

Bowlers with most wickets in BPL-

10. Mehidy Hasan Miraz: 78 wickets

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has steadily grown into a reliable spin option in the BPL, combining control with timely breakthroughs.

Known for his accuracy in the power play and middle overs, Miraz’s ability to bowl economically while picking wickets has made him a valuable asset across multiple franchises. Miraz is only 28 and is expected to cross the 100 mark in the future.

9. Mohammad Nabi: 79 wickets

Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi has been one of the most effective overseas spinners in BPL history. The only non-Bangladeshi on the list, Nabi has emerged as the most impactful overseas bowler in the tournament. Playing just 71 matches, he clinched 79 wickets at a surreal economy of just 6.70.

8. Shafiul Islam: 83 wickets

Shafiul Islam has been a dependable seamer in the league, relying on discipline and movement rather than express pace. His knack for early breakthroughs and ability to bowl long spells have helped him remain relevant across seasons, picking 83 wickets in 83 matches.

7. Mohammad Saifuddin: 84 wickets

Mohammad Saifuddin has carved a niche as a wicket-taking medium pacer in the BPL. Effective at the death and capable of breaking partnerships, Saifuddin’s cutters and slower balls have fetched him 84 wickets in 66 innings, going at just under 8 an over.

6. Arafat Sunny: 97 wickets

Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny has been one of the quiet achievers of the BPL. His ability to exploit turning pitches and maintain a tight line has made him a consistent wicket-taker. He has played 110 matches and has an economy rate of just over 7.

5. Mashrafe Mortaza: 98

Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza brought leadership and tactical nous to the BPL. While injuries curtailed his pace later in his career, his experience, clever use of angles, and ability to strike at crucial moments helped him effect 98 dismissals.

Mortaza is an all-time legend of Bangladesh cricket and holds the record for playing the second-most matches in the BPL after Shakib, which is a testament to his longevity.

4. Mustafizur Rahman: 105 wickets

Mustafizur Rahman, famously known as “The Fizz,” has been one of the most feared bowlers in BPL history. His deceptive cutters, especially at the death, have troubled batters year after year, making him a valuable asset across all three phases.

Rahman has an economy of 7 despite bowling in the toughest passages, and is expected to make further inroads in his wicket column tally in the future.

3. Rubel Hossain: 110 wickets

Rubel Hossain used raw pace and aggression to great effect in the BPL. Capable of bowling hostile spells, Rubel’s ability to strike both early and late in an innings helped him become the third-highest wicket-taker.

2. Taskin Ahmed: 127 wickets

Taskin Ahmed has emerged as one of the most consistent fast bowlers in league history. Blending raw pace with bounce and steadily improving control, he has been a reliable wicket-taker in all phases of the game.

His seven-wicket haul for Durbar Rajshahi in 2025 stands as the best bowling figures in Bangladesh Premier League history, underlining his match-winning impact.

1. Shakib Al Hasan: 149 wickets

He won two BPL titles with Dhaka teams, one as a player in 2013 and another as captain in 2016. Shakib also holds the record for most Player of the Tournament awards (four).
