Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played from November 22 to January 7.

Former Australian pacer Geoff Lawson believes that the upcoming high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 could turn out to be the best test series of the 21st century.

For the first time since 1991-92, India and Australia will compete in a five-match test series. The exciting test series will be played from November 22, 2024, to January 7, 2025, in Australia.

The Indian cricket team have clinched two consecutive test series on Australian soil (2018-19 and 2020-21) and will be looking for a hat-trick on the upcoming tour.

The recent success of the Indian cricket team on Australian soil has intensified the rivalry even more. The Indian side have retained the BGT since the 2017 series, having won four series in a row against Australia.

Test cricket is the premium form of the game: Geoff Lawson

Former Australian pacer Geoff Lawson opined that there may not be any drawn test match in the BGT 2024-25 series.

“With a hot dry Australian summer predicted, I can’t see there being any draws as these two teams have an attacking penchant and the players to deliver quick runs and batting collapses. This could be the best Test series of the 21st century so far and will remind us of how Test cricket is the premium form of the game,” Geoff Lawson was quoted as saying by Mid Day.

The former Australian cricketer predicted hosts Australia to win the series by 3-2.

“Picking a winner is fraught with all sorts of peril which is exactly how the fans want this series to unfold. I’m very uncertainly going for an Australian win 3-2,” Lawson added.

India’s tour of Australia 2024-25 schedule:

November 22-26: 1st test, Perth Stadium, Perth (D)

December 6-10: 2nd test, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N)

December 14-18: 3rd test, The Gabba, Brisbane (D)

December 26-30: 4th test, MCG, Melbourne (D)

January 3-7: 5th Test, SCG, Sydney (D)
