Veteran batter Brendan Taylor has returned to Zimbabwe XI after a long time. He is part of the team for the first ODI against Sri Lanka, which is currently underway at the Harare Sports Club, Harare.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) handed a three-and-a-half-year ban to Taylor for breaching their anti-corruption and anti-doping codes. Taylor was handed the ban in January 2022 for accepting USD 15,000 from Indian businessmen during a trip to Delhi in 2019.
The money was given as part of a discussion to launch a private T20 league in Zimbabwe. The ICC later revealed that Taylor delayed reporting the approach and failed a drug test for cocaine use while returning home. He has returned to the Zimbabwe national team after completing his ban.
