England star Brydon Carse handcuffed in nightclub incident; Ben Stokes hides behind pillar: Watch

England player Brydon Carse is part of England’s Test squad against Pakistan.

English fast bowler Brydon Carse found himself at the centre of a massive off-field controversy as footage emerged showing him handcuffed by police officials outside a nightclub in Derby. This incident followed Durham’s massive 338-run victory over Derbyshire in the County Championship. 

Carse has been part of England‘s squad for the ongoing Test series against Pakistan but didn’t play in the opening game. After being allowed to feature in a county game instead, Carse played for Durham and was part of their emphatic triumph over Derbyshire. 

The subsequent celebrations, however, were followed by such misfortune that it will now be remembered as one of the darkest days of the Englishman’s life.

Videos circulating on social media appeared to show the England star surrounded by police with his hands behind his back, handcuffed outside a nightclub facility somewhere in Derby. Alongside him, Ben Stokes was also seen there, but he was seen hiding behind the pillar.

As per various reports, Brydon Carse was briefly detained and then released without any charges. However, the circumstances that led to police intervention remain unknown to the public, and Carse’s offence was not disclosed. 

During Durham’s famous 338-run victory, Carse contributed two wickets across the two innings, while former England captain Ben Stokes remained the highlight of the win with an all-round performance with both the bat and ball. 

However, it is important to note that Carse was celebrating Durham’s win, not England’s win over Pakistan in the first Test. England registered a dominating victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Headingley, as the Joe Root-led side won by a massive 103 runs and an innings. 

ECB launches investigation after police press no charges against England cricketer 

The ECB has lately been facing many such issues of irregularities, and players have been warned on several occasions. Though this was not the England national team, the ECB has launched an official investigation into the incident. 

In a statement, the governing body said it was aware of the incident taking place, and it was currently being investigated. They also assured that further updates will be provided by the ECB. Though Carse has not been charged as of now, this controversy has once again increased scrutiny over the off-field conduct of English players.
