South Africa produced a dominating performance during the three-match ODI series against Australia. It turned out to be a high-scoring series, and South Africa won it by 2-1 without having several first-choice fast bowlers.
Now, the action shifts to the longest format. These two sides will take on each other in the three-match Test series. The first test will begin on October 9 (Friday) at Kingsmead in Durban.
This is a crucial Test series for two teams, who are fighting for a place in the final of the World Test Championship 2025-27. Australia won the last test series in South Africa in 2013/14.
They will be hoping to bounce back after the defeat in the ODI series. However, the visitors suffered a massive blow as the star all-rounder has been ruled out of the first test.
Cameron Green ruled out of first SA vs AUS Test due to abdominal strain

Star all-rounder Cameron Green is all set to miss the first game of the three-match Test series against South Africa. The Test will be played between October 9 and 13, and Australia will be without him.
As reported by Cricinfo, Green has been ruled out of the first test due to an abdominal strain. Green sustained the injury during the final ODI in Potchefstroom on September 30. The all-rounder was doubtful, and head coach Andrew McDonald confirmed it on Tuesday.
He said, “I hate talking about medical stuff … They said it’s a stabilising muscle, so I think that’s a better result than a rotational muscle. But I’m trying to relay that there is a path where he can play in this Test series at some point.”
As a result, Sam Harper and Nic Maddinson have been added to the squad as backup. Harper is coming off a century in the unofficial Test against India A in Puducherry. Green played a key role in the last Test series for Australia against Bangladesh.
He scored a century in the first Test and scored a half-century in the second test, which Australia won. Green’s unavailability will hurt Australia’s combination. However, the good news for Australia and their fans is the return in form for Marnus Labuschagne. He scored 111 off 89 balls in the warmup game against CSA XI in Potchefstroom.
