South Africa won the AFG vs SA match by 107 runs in Karachi.
Group B in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 got underway on Friday with South Africa demolishing Afghanistan by 107 runs in Karachi to get their first two points on the board, getting their campaign off to a flying start.
Afghanistan, who were touted as a dark horse with some even giving them a chance to reach the semis, suffered an early bump and their qualification chances took a huge nosedive because of his massive margin of loss.
South Africa won the toss and after electing to bat first posted a big total of 315 runs on the back of century from Ryan Rickelton and half-centuries from Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram.
Afghanistan’s chase never got going as they kept losing wickets regularly. Rahmat Shah fought single-handedly with a 90 but none of the other batsmen managed more than 20 runs. Rabada took three wickets, while Lungi Ngidi and Wiaan Mulder took two wickets each.
