Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their first match of IPL 2025 on March 23 against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) failed to defend their Indian Premier League (IPL) title in the 2024 edition and finished fifth in the league under new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. But, they will look to lift their sixth trophy as the IPL 2025 is just a few days away from the start.

MS Dhoni will be back in action, which will be enough to bring the fans to stadiums. The five-time champions will kick off their campaign with an encounter against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI).

That game is slated to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23 (Sunday). CSK will play 14 matches in the league stage, out of which, seven will be at their home ground and seven will be played away. Their last group match is against Gujarat Titans on May 18 in Ahmedabad.

Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024

Ahead of the IPL 2024, CSK appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad as their new captain, but it didn’t go well for the side as they not only failed to defend their title, but also failed to qualify for the playoffs. They failed to qualify for the playoffs because of the inferior NRR. CSK lost their last group match against RCB and finished fifth in the league stage. RCB had NRR of +0.459, while CSK had NRR of +0.392.
