Top 5 lowest totals by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been bowled out under 100 twice in the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The franchise has won five titles and reached the playoffs, and the finals on most occasions than any other team in IPL.
MS Dhoni took the leadership of CSK in their debut season in 2008 and has been associated with the side since then. Under Dhoni’s leadership, CSK turned into one of the most dangerous sides in the tournament over the years.
While CSK are known to dominate the opposition with bat and ball, there were some games when the Men in Yellow completely failed with the bat. They have faced some of the horrible batting collapses and registered their worst batting performances. In this listicle, we glance at the top five lowest totals by CSK in the IPL.
Top 5 lowest totals by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL
5. 109/10 vs Mumbai Indians (IPL 2019)
In the 2019 season, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) dismantled the Men in Yellow for just 109 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK skipper in that game, Suresh Raina won the toss and opted to bowl first.
MI opener Sharma slammed a half-century to drive MI to 155/4 in 20 overs. Later, CSK faced a big batting collapse during the chase. Opener Murali Vijay scored 38 runs, however, CSK lost the next five batsmen for single digits.
Lasith Malinga clinched a four-wicket haul for MI, while Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each. Eventually, Suresh Raina & Co. lost the match by 46 runs after getting bowled out for just 109.
4. 109/10 vs Rajasthan Royals (IPL 2008)
During the inaugural season of IPL, CSK were bowled out for just 109 in a clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR). In the 24th match of the tournament in Jaipur, MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. However, RR pacer Sohail Tanvir clinched an impeccable six-wicket haul to crush the visiting batters.
CSK lost openers Parthiv Patel and Stephen Fleming for ducks and suffered a batting collapse thereafter. Suresh Raina (27) and Albie Morkel (42) added some crucial runs on the board. Later in the second innings, RR chased down the target by eight wickets.
3. 103/9 vs Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL 2025)
In IPL 2025, CSK faced another batting blow at home against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR opted to bowl first at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With a fabulous bowling show led by Sunil Narine (3 wickets), Varun Chakaravarthy (2), and Harshit Rana (2), the visitors restricted the Super Kings to 103/9 in 20 overs.
Notably, it was a special game for CSK as Dhoni returned to lead the team, replacing injured Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, the hosts faced a big batting collapse. Shivam Dube was the top scorer for the side with 31 runs. They later lost the match by eight wickets with 59 balls left.
2. 97/10 vs Mumbai Indians (IPL 2022)
In the 2022 season, CSK faced another batting debacle against MI, this time too at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the 59th match of IPL 2022, CSK were asked to bat first by MI. With a brilliant bowling attack led by Daniel Sams (3 wickets), Riley Meredith (2), and Kumar Kartikeya (2), the Rohit Sharma-led side bowled out the visitors for just 97 runs in 16 overs.
Notably, the Super Kings lost their top four batters for single digits including two ducks. Dhoni top scored for the side with unbeaten 36 runs as the rest of the batters failed to go big. Later, MI chased down the target by five wickets.
