Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara picked his combined test XI of India and England from the 21st century. The test specialist overlooked legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Alastair Cook and MS Dhoni, which came as a big shock. Pujara revealed his India and England combined test XI in a chat with ESPNCricinfo.

For the openers, the right-handed batsman picked former England wicket-keeper Alec Stewart and Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid. He kept Joe Root at three and Virat Kohli at the crucial number four position.

VVS Laxman was slotted at five. Pujara also chose two seam all-rounders from England- Ben Stokes and Andrew Flintoff. For the spinners, he went ahead with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in his team. He also picked Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as pacers.

The hosts won the opening game by five wickets. However, India made a comeback in the second test with a 336-run victory. In the previous Lord’s test, England defeated India by 22 runs. Spinner Shoaib Bashir has been ruled out of the series due to a finger injury. The hosts have added Liam Dawson as a replacement.

Meanwhile, India have not won any test match against England in Manchester. Moreover, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah’s availability is doubtful for the fourth test. Pant sustained a finger injury in the third test. Bumrah, who is set to play in only three games, might be rested in the next match.
