The test specialist overlooked legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Alastair Cook and MS Dhoni, which came as a big shock. For the openers, the right-handed batsman picked former England wicket-keeper Alec Stewart and Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid. He kept Joe Root at three and Virat Kohli at the crucial number four position.

VVS Laxman was slotted at five. Pujara also chose two seam all-rounders from England- Ben Stokes and Andrew Flintoff. For the spinners, he went ahead with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in his team. He also picked Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as pacers.

Meanwhile, India have not won any test match against England in Manchester. Moreover, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah’s availability is doubtful for the fourth test. Pant sustained a finger injury in the third test. Bumrah, who is set to play in only three games, might be rested in the next match.
