Chris Woakes suffered shoulder injury while fielding on day one of The Oval test.

The fourth day of the fifth test between England and India at The Oval ended with a lot of thrill, with the hosts needing 35 more runs for victory. However, they have only four wickets left, out of which, one is injured Chris Woakes.

England were at 339/6 when bad light and rain forced the umpires to call stumps early. On day four, Joe Root (105) and Harry Brook (111) slammed centuries to take the game away from India, who were looking favourites to win the clash ahead of the start of day four.

But in the last session, India made a comeback and, along with picking wickets, they beat England batters multiple times on both the edges to put them under pressure. With four wickets still left, the hosts would fancy their chances of winning the game. However, out of the four wickets, one is injured Chris Woakes, who did not bat in the first innings of The Oval test.

He got injured on day one of the match while fielding. Due to a shoulder injury, he was ruled out of the fifth test, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). However, so far, there is no clarity on whether he will bat in the second innings or not.
